Introducing Your 2013 Communicator Of The Year

Social media has taken the practice of “name and shame” to hilarious new heights with the ability to reach vast networks of people in an instant, rile them up, and direct their outrage at the online worlds of stunned sinners. That so many “professionals” haven’t yet learned this is remarkable indeed.

Today’s unfortunate study is Kelly Blazek who was humorously selected as the 2013 Communicator of the Year by the Cleveland Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. Blazek, in response to a LinkedIn networking request, misfired off a response that quickly ran the social media gamut.

You can read all about it here, along with the how-do-I-internet? apology. Though Blazek has apparently deleted her own blog, she can now read all about her misadventures here at Tastes Like Foot.

Ted Nugent “Apologizes”

It’s no surprise to anyone who doesn’t live under a rock that Ted Nugent maintains a passionate dislike of President Obama. Nor is it surprising that he’s vocal about it. In fact, it’s really not surprising he would go so far as to call the president a “subhuman mongrel.”

What is surprising is that he decided to “apologize" for his remarks this time around.

I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured subhuman mongrel like the acorn community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America.

Will The MSNBC Apology Train Derail?

It’s worth asking whether MSNBC’s recent string of apologies hints at a systemic problem within the organization. Given that Martin Bashir’s absence since suggesting someone should shit in Sarah Palin’s mouth hasn’t slowed the apology train, it’s probably a good bet.

The Perennial Black History Month Student Lunch Fail

I can’t remember a year that this story hasn’t made it’s way into the news. So, here it is once again, the brilliant idea that Black History Month is best commemorated by promoting racial stereotypes followed by the oh-so-predictable apology and class assembly. Maybe the folks over at Carondelet High School in California should start reading this blog.

"We Fired The Sign Guy"

It’s not just public figures who have a tendency to taste foot. Blind Tiger Bar & Grill in Nevada has apparently decided to compete for least sensitive comment about kids with cancer in a belated jab at the Denver Broncos. Really, guys?

Their response to the inevitable fallout? “We fired the sign guy.”

Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family.

Peter Schiff: I’m Worth Way More Than A “Mentally Retarded” Person

As Peter Schiff, the CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, helpfully suggested recently on the Daily Show, “you’re worth what you’re worth.” If you’re “mentally retarded” that miiiiiight be around $2/hr.
